I was thinking about not explaining Pap's glowing soul until later...but then I was like "but there's no way the characters could explain it as in depth as I could, because even they don't really understand what's up". So, I'm gonna tell you.

We all know that Sans holds things in, right? he holds all his problems, fears, and failures deep inside him, refusing to reach out to anyone, even though that's what he probably needs the most. And that got me thinking. If I were Sans, and I treated everything like it was okay, even when it wasn't , then, if I could suddenly see or feel or sense a reset coming on, I'd probably just let all of that fall apart. The barriers I had set up around my soul would fall, and I'd reach out to those I loved most. So, here, I decided to make the same true of Sans. He sees Frisk summoning up that wave of magic, and he's thinking 'this is it', and his soul cries out to the closest person to him: Papyrus. Probably being brothers gives them some sort of bond. ^^

Now, this might have happened hundreds of times, maybe even every time Frisk/Chara/Flowey has ever reset, but Pap doesn't remember, because everything just resets. And Sans probably doesn't know the effect his emotions have on his brother, because most likely he's never been near enough to his brother to notice when it happens (or Pap is already dead ).

So, yeah. That's my head-canon for the day.
